Sandisk Thumb Drive Format
Hi, Using Win32DiskImager, I wrote a chromium AMDx64 ISO image to a SanDisk Cruzer 16GB pen drive, which successfully worked to install the Chromium on the computer. When I plugged it back into another computer running windows 10, I formatted it. In a hurry, not paying too much attention, I formatted it to 1.18GB. Then I went to diskpart, List Disk, Select Disk 1, Clean and it gave me the error: 'Diskpart has encountered an error: Incorrect function. See the system event log for more information'. And as soon as I did that, a pop up showed asking me to format. So I went to the disk management section in control panel.
And if I go on My PC and see that the pen drive is being detected but has 0 bytes space free and 0 bytes space used. PLEASE, help me! I have spent my whole day trying to figure this out, but nothing seems to work. I will happily provide any additional information regarding this problem, just ask. I have gotten errors like 'the file specified could not be found' or 'windows was unable to format the disk'. ANOTHER thing I noticed is that, through disk manager, I can create a new simple volume, but the max allocated space for the partition is 14.9 where as when I bought the pen drive about 2-4 months ago, it was 15.7-15.9. So it is possible that there is space that I am not being able to access or wipe.
That I probably lost during my format after installing chromium on another computer. Kind Regards, Akhil10.
Your drive has no partitions therefore there is nothing to format. Under disk management right click on the usb drive and create a new partition. Then you can format and use it. I created a partition using diskpart successfully using 'create partition primary' command. Then, the usb didn't display at all on 'My PC'. So I went to disk manager in control panel and it was detected there.
So I started to format. It showed me a warning to backup all data as format will delete, so I just checked yes and then.
